Six Sigma
Freeware
With the
growing popularity after understanding the importance of Six Sigma,
there are many Six Sigma Freeware and shareware Six Sigma available
in the market, but if you wish to seek some professional help in
your pursuit then you should go using proper channel to get maximum
benefits of these tools and techniques. However, some of the Six
Sigma Freeware discussed here can be beneficial to
you.
The purpose of
Six Sigma Freeware is to help enforce the Six Sigma culture
throughout your enterprise. Leading Manufacturers who are totally
committed to their customers and quality have adopted the six sigma
philosophy for their whole organization. Sigma is a statistical term
used to measure how perfect a process is. The idea is that if you
can measure the number of defects in a process you can figure out
how to reduce or get rid of them altogether, zero defects being the
ideal but with a maximum of 3.4 defects per million being a
realistic goal.
The Six Sigma
methodology has been around since the 1980`s but the value of
applying the process centered approach has only recently been
appreciated. Manufacturing processes are one of the key areas where
improvements can be made when you are striving for perfection. Six
Sigma Freeware makes the six sigma approach easier to implement and
helps to reduce variation in a process and improve the capability of
the process especially in small businesses or start-ups for free.
Decreasing defects and increasing customer
satisfaction.
Three reasons
you should use Six Sigma Freeware:
- Ease of use:
A great deal of Six Sigma programs and Six Sigma Freeware get
bogged down in the use of software. Six Sigma Freeware is designed
to perform simply and easily so that your Black Belts and Green
Belts can get down to the business of improvement. Six Sigma
Freeware integrates into Microsoft Excel, which for many is a
familiar environment. The results can be shared with anyone who
has Excel 97 or later.
- Cost: Six
Sigma Freeware are for free but some of them come at a price that
makes it affordable to put into everyone's hands (although many
software are available for free but for limited functionality or
time). For example: SPC XL, most popular product, retails for
$199, with volume discounts available.
- Customization: If you have special
requirements, company can adapt these packages to your needs.
Microsoft, Raytheon, and Roche Diagnostics are examples of
companies that have custom versions of Six Sigma Freeware or
software.
The Six Sigma
Freeware Suite provides the tools you need to attain the six sigma
level of process performance. This Six Sigma Freeware suite contains
four (4) modules including SPC-PC-IV, DOE, 7MP and
Flowcharting/Cause & Effect. With the ability to share
information between the four modules, you can perform multivariate
regression analysis and plotting within the DOE module on SPC-PC-IV
data files, convert flowcharting files to 7MP diagrams and do
control charting on DOE data files.
The Six Sigma
Partnering GR&R Template is one of Six Sigma Freeware which allows the Blackbelt to
assess the performance of the process measurement system and to
determine the variability of the appraiser, gage/equipment, and the
process itself. Included are integrated SPC "like" charts linked
directly to the template shown. Just input the measured parameters
and the charts update automatically. The GR&R Average and Range
charts provide the Blackbelt a quick and easy method to visually
evaluate the measurement system. The charts may be "copied &
pasted" into the Six Sigma Partnering Project Status Report to
enhance communication with management.
The Six Sigma
Partnering X-Bar Chart template is one of Six Sigma Freeware which provides an easy visual
tool for the Blackbelt practitioner to implement a control process.
The X-Bar Chart is used to control processes where the statistic
under study is based on variables data. Examples of variables data
include measures of: length, volume, velocity, voltage, mass,
etc.

There are many
Six Sigma Freeware calculators for calculating Six Sigma
Calculations. Six Sigma Calculator, FREE, January 2003. A
demonstrator e-book explaining the essential facts about the process
sigma metric and how it is calculated. Includes a fully functional
DPMO to process sigma calculator based on opportunities and defects,
as well as two DPMO to sigma metric lookup
tables.
You can
download and save target file or run this e-book demonstrator to
ensure that your system is compatible with our e-book format before
downloading and purchasing other e-books. (427k) for more details,

Sigma metric
demonstrator, FREE, January 2003. See how changes in the mean,
standard deviation, and customer or specification limits change the
value of the process sigma metric. Using an Excel worksheet this
demonstrator allows changes to be shown real-time. You can download
